Dr. Ravi Damodaran has over 25 years of experience in the industrials sector, having held positions in Business Management, Strategy, Technology, Program Management and Operations
Ravi is presently the Chief Technology Officer in Greaves Cotton Limited, driving the technology transformation of Greaves Cotton. Previously, Ravi served in Varroc Engineering Ltd as President, Technology & Strategy, where he was responsible for scripting the Group strategy to achieve it͛s 2020 vision as well as improving Varroc͛s technology prowess to achieve and sustain market leadership. Prior to Varroc, Ravi worked at Delphi Automotive Systems, in various roles as the Chief Engineer for Powertrain Systems first, and then as Country Manager for the Powertrain Systems business in India. He set up the first complete product development centre for fuel handling products for the Indian automotive industry and pioneered the launch of India͛s first indigenous fuel injected motorcycle in 2005. He was also the first to develop capability for gas fuel injection systems for commercial vehicles in India.
Ravi spent time with GE India Technology Centre for their Plastics and Power Systems business as a materials scientist. Ravi is also a Six Sigma Master Black Belt from GE, who has worked his entire career in solving business problems using this approach.
Ravi had spent 7 years in the U.S.A. working on advanced research in materials for space, defense, medical and industrial applications, environmental cleanups and minerals processing. He was an early user in the use of statistical techniques for design, analysis and optimization and has applied such techniques in varied areas from product development to manufacturing process and quality management. He is a votary of collaborative efforts to bridge the ever-increasing gap in technology capabilities both in products and manufacturing floors in the Indian manufacturing industry.
Ravi is a graduate from I.I.T. Roorkee in Metallurgical Engineering and has a Masters and Ph.D. from the University of Florida, U.S.A. in Materials Science.
